Gary Allen Nash

At 9:00pm tonight April 6, 2017 Gary Allen Nash officially departed this life. He actually left us to be with our Lord on April 1, 2017. April fools day of all days... for those of you that knew Allen, you know this was just like him. He loved a good joke and he liked to leave his mark. Now every April fools day we can remember the man that always made us laugh no matter how much you wanted to wring his neck 😂
At this time it is believed that he suffered a major stroke that lead to the restriction of blood flow to his brain and heart causing a massive heart attack and anoxia (severe lack of oxygen to the brain). He was with a friend who's son is actually a nurse and immediately recognized Allen was in need of 911 and began CPR right away. The EMT arrived in about 15 min Allen had coded at this point but was resuscitated at the hospital where he coded again and was resuscitated again. He was then put on life support. We arrived the following night on sunday in McAlester OK. We were told he probably didn't have enough brain activity to ever recover but chose to take him to a higher leave of care in Tulsa Ok and be evaluated by a neurologist and team of internal medicine specialists at OSU medical center. Yesterday they informed us that after further testing, he only had enough brain activity to breath and that his brain would more than likely continue to swell and the damage would be irreversible 😔
After many tears, prayers and careful consideration of Allen's wishes.... we decided to take him off the vent and let God do the rest. We spent last night with him saying our good byes and telling him to try and behave himself when he entered the pearly gates. One thing we rest in is knowing that as untamable as his heart was, that he gave it to Christ before he left this earth and he loved his family with every ounce of his being. He told us many times throughout the years "to go ahead and shoot him" if something like this ever happened but never leave him hooked up to those machines but let him go on and meet his maker. He wanted to be cremated and scattered in the Gulf of Mexico where a large part of his heart was.
Therefore, we chose to honor his wish. Although, we are going to keep a portion of his remains to be buried with his mom and dad in Clara. We will have a memorial service for him within the next year when we can get the majority of his family together all at once to celebrate his life and let him go in the salt air and ocean blue that he so loved. We will send details when we have more.
William, genell, abbie grace, ryder and myself were by his side through the last few days and take comfort in believing he knew we were there with him making sure he was cared for in the best way possible. Thank you all for your calls, prayers, thoughts and support. We love you all!
