Mary Helen Crabb, 87, went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at her home. She was born May 21, 1927 to Eldon and Nina Pounds. She was a 1944 graduate of New Site High School, and was salutatorian of her class. During her life, she worked at South Central Bell, Sears, and was retired from Goodyear Tire Company. She was the "First Lady" (mayor's wife) of Booneville from 1977-1985.

"Mamaw", as she was affectionately called by her family, gave her life to Christ in 1949 at a spring revival meeting. This changed her life, as she served the Lord for the rest of her days. She was a charter member for many years at Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school classes and served as church clerk, and at the time of her death she was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She frequently prayed for her family and friends, as prayer was such a big part of her life. An example has been given to all who knew her, of how to live your life for Christ.

She loved supporting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in whatever activities they were involved in. She enjoyed watching ballgames, cooking, gardening, sewing, and listening to gospel music.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Gaston Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Johnson, Bro. Chip Johnson, and Bro. Josh Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McMillan Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Gaston Baptist Church on Friday, December 5, 2014, and from 12:30 P.M. until the service begins Saturday, December 6, 2014.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Elton Crabb, who she married on February 13, 1949, and of whom she was a faithful wife for 65 years; her daughter, Cindy (John) Simmons of Savannah, TN; a sister Virginia Goddard of Booneville; a son-in-law, Mike Johnson of Rienzi; four grandchildren, Chip (Amanda) Johnson of Randolph; Jade (Josh) Hutchens of Booneville; Josh (Cynthia) Simmons of Bells, TN; and Amber (Kyle) Heard of Pontotoc; six great-grandchildren, Kaylee Faith Johnson, Kylee Grace Johnson, Kellan Hope Johnson, Kynslee Lane Johnson, Brody Kyle Hutchens, and Greyson Michael Hutchens; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Nina McKinney Pounds; her daughter, Cathy Johnson; three sisters, Lola Caver, Lorene Eaton, and Erlene Thompson; and one brother, James Thurman Pounds.
