Rilla Mae (Lane) Broome, age 74 of Flower Mound, TX went home to be with our Lord surrounded by loving family on November 30, 2014. She was born August 2,1940 in Old Joe, Arkansas, the second child to Andrew and Augusta (Smith) Lane. She married the love of her life James Broome on November 5, 1977 in Baton Rouge, LA. While Rilla and James had no children together, Rilla had four beautiful daughters to a previous marriage who she felt were her greatest achievement in life. There was not a day that went by one would not hear of how proud she was, and how much she loved each and every one of her daughters and their achievement’s. She thanked God daily for her many blessings and for her James as she called her husband who she loved more than life. Being best friends as they were they enjoyed doing many things together such as walking, traveling, gardening, rock collecting from each and every place they visited, always spreading the word of God as they went. Rilla’s belief in her Lord and faith was resolute and until He called her home she remained in His name, loving, gracious, faithful, loyal to both family and friends with a Christian generosity to all she met.
Rilla enjoyed several careers, Cosmetology, Movie theaters and Accounting at LISD where she retired from in 2005. She enjoyed doing puzzles, playing scrabble, listening to Christian music and teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed gardening, a love she shared with her oldest daughter Terry. Rilla loved to shop, a love she shared with her daughter Pam, just as she shared a deep sense of strength and wisdom with her daughter Belinda. Her love of all things hair, style and homemaking is one she shared with her daughter Kimberly. She was equally close with all four in her own special way.
Rilla is survived by her husband of 37 years, James Broome; daughters, Terry Taylor, Pam MacDonald and husband Richard, Belinda Brown and Sheila Watt, Kim Ramsey and husband Mike; sister, Beverly Neal and husband Marty; six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Vera Reeves and brother, Jimmy Lee Lane.
