John (Johnnie) Edward Alligood of Social Circle, Georgia passed away at his home on December 1, 2014 from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. He was born in Colquitt County, Georgia, May 23, 1934, to the late Arthur Daniel (Bud) and Marie Cooper Alligood. Johnnie was a 1954 graduate of Moultrie High School. He served in the U. S. Army from March 1957 until February 1958 when he received an honorable medical discharge. He moved to Atlanta in 1956 and began working at General Motors Lakewood Plant, retiring after 35 years of service. He was an active member of First Baptist Church Social Circle from 1969 until he could no longer attend due to his illness. In addition to his parents, Johnnie is preceded in death by brothers Jesse Leroy Alligood and Arthur Vernon Alligood. Johnnie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Johnston Alligood; his son and daughter-in-law, Darron and Wendy Alligood of Social Circle; his daughter and son-in-law, Janna and Brad Waddell of Eatonton; his grandchildren, Kenley Alligood of Statesboro, Reese and Tanner Waddell of Eatonton and Kylee Alligood of Social Circle; brothers Curtis (Hjordis) of Stone Mountain and Larry Alligood of Social Circle; sisters, Emily (Frank) Murphey of Social Circle and Annette (Larry) Saul of Bogart, sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Alligood of Meigs and Ettie Alligood of Lawrenceville, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church Social Circle at PO Box 428 Social Circle, Georgia 30025 or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at 912 Killian Hill Road Lilburn, Georgia 30047.
