Charles Michael Morgason, age 67, of Richmond, died Saturday, November 29, 2014, at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis, following a long battle with congestive heart failure and diabetes. Born December 17, 1946, in Greensburg, Indiana, to Charles Edwin Morgason and Norma Jean Ensminger Morgason, Mike grew up in Waldron, Indiana, and spent most of his life in Richmond. He was a 1965 graduate of Waldron High School and a 1969 graduate of Ball State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education. Mike later got his master’s degree from Ball State as well. He began his career teaching at Hibberd Junior High School, and then became business manager for Richmond Community Schools. Mike later returned to teaching and taught at Highland Heights Elementary and then Charles Elementary, ending a career of 32 years in education. He coached football and girls softball at Richmond High School. Mike was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir. He enjoyed working in the yard, traveling, and entertaining his grandchildren. Mike was a true man of God, laying a foundation of faith for his family. He was mischievous, light-hearted, and laid-back. Mike was very loving and his smile would light up a room. Survivors include his wife, Linda Sawyer Morgason, to whom he was married for 46 years; children, Amy (Matthew) Fix of Indianapolis and Charles Jason Morgason of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Nathan and Abby; aunt, Imogene Fansler of Waldron, Indiana; cousins; many friends and former students; and his dog, Boots. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation for Charles Michael Morgason will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 1601 South A Street, Richmond, with Rev. James Spon officiating. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery.
