MUNCIE--Helen V. Faulkner Strong, 86, died Monday morning at Community Care Center. She was born in Petersburg, the daughter of Vade DeJarnett and Carrie Taylor DeJarnett. Helen moved to the Muncie area as a child and attended schools in Petersburg and Muncie. She worked at restaurants in the Muncie area before retiring. Her memberships include the Avondale Sympathy Club.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Faulkner, Muncie, and Roger Faulkner, Muncie; two daughters, Betty Clevenger (husband-Darwin), Dekalb, Texas, and Janie Peavler (husband-Larry), Middletown; a daughter-in-law, Helen Faulkner, Trafalgar; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Faulkner, in 1974; one son, James Faulkner, in 1996; a grandson, Ricky Ruddick, in 1999; and her daughter-in-law, JoAnn Faulkner, in 1995.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in The Meeks Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday or one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
