Louis Monica, 70, of 6 Mills Avenue, Saranac Lake, died at 6 o' clock Wednesday evening at Sunmount Veterans Administration Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Monica, who had lived in Saranac Lake since 1920, had an upholstery shop next to his home. He also taught upholstering in a Saranac Lake adult education class for five years. He was a veteran of the infantry in World War 1. Mr. Monica was born Sept. 20, 1892 in North Bangor, son of Oliver and Flora Monica. He was married on July 23, 1924 in Potsdam to Hazel Joyce who survives him.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Meagher of Saranac Lake; a son, Donald of Buffalo; six grandchildren; a brother, Roy, of California; and nieces and nephews.
A VFW service will be held at the Fortune Funeral Home at 8 p. m. Friday which Comm. Albert Gonyea Urges all members of the VFW to attend. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2 p. m. Saturday, with the Rev. Dr. Lionel R. Driscoli, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Monica's family requests that those wishing to remember him make donations to the Cancer Crusade.
