Betty Jane Lore Duncan, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at her home in Metairie, LA.

Mrs. Duncan was born on September 9, 1923 to the late Joseph Caldwell Lore and Laura Rudisill Lore in Belzoni, MS and spent most of her youth in Greenwood, MS.

Mrs. Duncan attended both Mississippi State College for Women and the University of Mississippi and graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO. While attending Ole Miss, Betty Jane was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. Afterwards she attended Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Betty Jane was a receptionist at Ochsner Clinic on Prytania Street where she met her beloved Tom, an Orthopedic Surgeon.

She was an active member of the Orleans Club of New Orleans, the Fine Arts Club of New Orleans and also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Along with her husband Tom, Betty Jane was also a life member of the Southern Yacht Club of New Orleans. Betty Jane taught herself how to sew and became an expert in heirloom sewing. She also taught herself how to manage finances and enjoyed following the stock market.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Thomas Lee Duncan; mother of Cameron Caldwell Duncan (Anne Pankau), Lee Duncan McKee (Paul R. McKee) and Heather Lore Duncan; grandmother of Brynn Buchanan Duncan, Evan Angus Duncan, Thomas Duncan Hixon, Kathleen Greer Hixon and Kevin Patrick McKee; sister of Douglass R. Lore (Beverly M. Lore) and the late Joseph Caldwell Lore, Jr. (the late Irene Connelly Lore).

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 9:00am until 11:00am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
