Dennis Allen Dever, 55, of Litchfield, died at 11:41 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, in St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with the Rev. Steve Revisky, senior minister of The Christian Church of Litchfield, officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Dever was born on May 3, 1959 in Litchfield, a son of Jerry Lee and Elizabeth Ann (Rainey) Dever. He graduated with the Litchfield High School Class of 1978 and was a member of the Catholic faith.
Over the years, he obtained his certification as an industrial electrical maintenance electrician and was a certified horse farrier. He worked as a lettering artist with the family business, Jerry Dever Signs, in Litchfield. He also had worked at Olin Manufacturing in Alton for seven years.
He loved horses and enjoyed working with them and bull riding. He especially enjoyed participating in rodeos, training and barrel racing horses, as well as fishing. He was a professional IPRA and PRCA bull rider until 1994.
He married Debra Mae Kunz on Oct. 17, 1992, in Sunshine Park in Litchfield and she survives.
In addition to his wife and parents in Litchfield, he is survived by two daughters, Amie Dever (fiancé, Chris Bruntjen, III) of Litchfield, and Tylyn (Craig, Jr.) Walch of Hillsboro; two brothers, Larry (Patty Jo) Dever of Palestine, TX, and Kenny (Earlena) Dever of Litchfield; two sisters, Lisa (Mike) Tex of Decatur, and Pam (Roger) Burdell of Litchfield; and three granddaughters, Chyanne, Emma and Sofia Bruntjen
He was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Dever.
