Naomi Theresa Post McVicar and her sister, Mertie Eldridge, kept scrapbooks containing family information with a basic family tree. This collection included the 3-page typed memoirs of their father, Israel Post. Upon their deaths, these scrapbooks passed into the possession of my father, Hugh McVicar, who was Naomi's youngest son. Intrigued, Dad wondered where his ancestors had lived before coming to Canada and then to North America. Before the days of computers and the internet, Dad's research involved days spent at the archives and libraries, pouring over microfilm and microfiche and writing letters. This became a life-long quest, as he eventually identified over 400 direct ancestors covering a span of 12 generations. We, his family, are so glad that Dad put it all in writing.
