Virginia Louise Harrington Caviness, 90, Blue Mountain, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Tippah County Hospital Nursing Home in Ripley. She was born on February 11, 1924, to John Hardy and Lola Mae Callicutt Harrington in Blue Mountain. Before her retirement, she was Postmaster with the United States Postal Service. Mrs. Caviness was a member of Lowrey Memorial Baptist Church.
Services will be Monday, December 1, 2014, at 1 p.m. at McBride Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Hamilton and Bro. Michael Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Mountain Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, November 30, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. and Monday, December 1, 2014, from 7 a.m. until service time at McBride Funeral Home.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Ann White; and one son, James Randal ""Randy"" Caviness, both of Ripley; four grandchildren, Tim White (Lowan), Ripley, Chris White, Hickory Flat, Lori White Spencer (Bruce), Jonesboro, Ark., Susan White Swinford, Corinth; nine great-children, Brooke White Holcomb (Jesse), Lauren White, Lindsey White Hopkins (Justin), James White, all of Ripley, Josh White, Taylor Spencer and Seth Spencer, all of Jonesboro, Ark., Caleb Gadd (Heather), Ripley, Hannah Gadd, Myrtle; five great-great-grandchildren, Kylee Hopkins, Presley Holcomb, Heidi Gadd, Brody Thomas, all of Ripley, Eli Lamar, Myrtle, one sister, Lavern Burgess, Memphis, Tenn.
Mrs. Caviness was preceded in death by her husband, James Terry Caviness; her parents; five brothers, Bobby, Sam, Joe, Paul, and J.H. Harrington; three sisters, Jewel Ellison, Hilda Luna, Hazel Dollar.
Pallbearers will be Timmy hite, Chris White, James White, Josh White, Justin Hopkins, Jesse Holcomb.
Honorary pallbearer will be Caleb Gadd.
