Bertha Charlene Rollins, 81 of Madill, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at her home in Madill. Charlene was born on March 5, 1933 in San Saba, Texas to the late Charles Noah Pruitt and Bertha Neva Smithwick Pruitt. She was raised in San Saba where attended school. At the age of 16 she joined the United States Army and served for 9 years during the Korean War. Charlene was a Sargent 1st Class, a Drill Sargent and was part of the Color Guard. She presented the American Flag during a speech by Eleanor Roosevelt. Charlene married James Rollins on August 9, 1957 in Durant, Oklahoma. She received an award from the Governor of Oklahoma for starting the first bible school class for special needs children at Southgate Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma in the early 1970’s. This class continues still today. Charlene was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church in Oakland and she enjoyed fishing, painting, and loved her grandkids.
