William Alpheus KING was born in Iredell County North Carolina 28 December 1812 to Hugh Brevard KING and Rebecca (GILL) KING, died in Travis County Texas 29 April 1888, and is buried Pond Springs Cemetery. He might have died under suspicious circumstances (arsenic poisoning by his second wife). Mr. King has one of the most distinctive headstones in the cemetery, recently repaired by Buster (see earlier blog entry).

His wife, Elizabeth HARRISON, was born in South Carolina 15 December 1815, and died in Travis County Texas 18 June 1871. Her parents were Luke Ray and Patsy Martha (HARRIS) HARRISON. She is buried Pond Springs Cemetery also. Buster recently repaired her stone as well.

After Elizabeth's death, William KING remarried to Ruth A. (HILL) RANEY, widow of Giles Burdette RANEY.

In 1840, the family was in Lauderdale County Alabama; in 1850 and 1860, they were in Burleson County Texas; in 1870 and 1880 they were in Travis County Texas.
