Mrs. Melva Ramsey “Nannie” King, who was born on December 26, 1922 in Madison County, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 22, 2014.

She lived a wonderful life of 91 years with a large family. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Ovet King. She is also preceded in death by her parents, James Ramsey and Martha Tweed Franklin, along with sisters, Susie Gosnell, Christine Mercer, brothers, Walter Ramsey, Sam Franklin, Everett Franklin and Lewis Franklin & five infant siblings.

Nannie is survived by her three children, Gay Ward (Jim), Ronnie King (Dianne) and Frances Pope (Jim), nine grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren, sisters, Liz Kuykendall, Sara Barnett, Neople Williams, Muncie Shelton and Margaret Crowe.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Doby officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
