William Palmiter Dies at Home Here

William H. Palmiter, 87, a native of Williams County, [Ohio], and a Chico resident for the past 18 years, succumbed at the family home on South Normal Street yesterday morning following a lengthy illness.

Palmiter was a stone mason by trade and spent a number of years as a contractor in South Bend, Ind. Some of his work includes the family residence of the Studebaker family, owners of the Studebaker Car Company, and an artistic wall between Notre Dame College and St. Mary's College in South Bend. He had retired before he came to Chico but built his own stone home on Normal Street.

Sixty-three and one half years ago, on November [2], he was married to Miss Elizabeth Burgoyne and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Chico.

Mrs. Palmiter survives her husband. There are five children, four living. Mrs. Lavina Wolcott, Kerman, Calif., and Leo Palmiter of Chico and a daughter and a son of Niles, Michigan. He is also survived by three brothers, A. J. Palmiter, Chico, and two others of Michigan and Indiana.

There are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Thursday at the Nuget Funeral Home at 2.
