A sad message received in Ashland Sunday morning, announcing the sudden death at his late home in Berea of Albert A. Carson, came as a shock to relatives and friends here. Mr. Carson had contracted a severe cold several days ago, which settled in his chest but nothing serious was thought of this ailment. However, pneumonia resulted, and on Sunday morning at about 4:30 o'clock, his death came very unexpectedly. Mr. Carson had been employed at his trade, that of pattern-maker, for a Cleveland concern since last December and although afflicted with a cold, he was able to work up to Thursday night on last week. Mr. Carson was well and favorably known in Ashland where he lived for many years. He removed with his wife and family to Berea three years ago last June, having accepted a position as pattern-maker with the firm of Dunham & Co., which concern on account of business depression laid off many of its employees temporarily the last of the year, 1914. Mr. Carson then accepted a position in Cleveland, but he and his family continued to reside at Berea. Deceased was aged about forty-eight years and besides his wife and two children—a son Harold, aged 16 years, and a daughter, Martha, aged 14, he is survived by a veneralbe mother, Mrs. John Caron, residing in Liberty, Ind., and several brothers and sisters, all residing in the southern part of Indiana. Mr. Carson attended Perdue University, Lafayette, Ind., where he learned to be a pattern maker, and has since proved himself highly proficient in his calling. He was married in this city, twenty two years ago last August, to Miss Effie Pershing, and for a number of years they resided in Ashland. Mr. Carson was a faithful Christian man and an earnest member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Since locating in Berea, he was active in Sunday school work, and organized an Adult Men's Bible class in the M.E. church there. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen lodge. Funeral Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Russell on East Walnut street. Services conducted by the Rev. Mr. Guy pastor of the First M.E. church at Berea, assisted by the Rev. Jno. I. Wean, of the local Methodist church. Interment in Ashland cemetery. The remains will arrive in Ashland this Monday evening.
