Carolyn was born February 20, 1943 in Clovis, New Mexico to L.A. McManus, Jr. and Fay (Curtis) McManus. After her father returned from WWII, the family moved to Amarillo when Carolyn was 3 years old. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961 and attended Amarillo Junior College. Carolyn married Carroll E. Babb on December 21, 1962 at Kingswood UMC in Amarillo. She was a Methodist her entire life. She had many interests including genealogy, history and reading. Recently, through her genealogical research, she discovered Richard Warren was her 10th great-grandfather. Richard Warren was the 12th signer of the Mayflower Compact. Carolyn joked it didn’t give her exclusive “bragging rights” since there are about 14 million other Mayflower descendants of Richard Warren.

She was a dealer of antique books. Carolyn also had worked at Dillards and a Savings and Loan company. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Carroll; two sons, Mark Babb of Olathe and Kelley Babb of Gardner; six grandchildren: Eric, Taylor, Alex, Emily, Derek and Dawson Babb; sister Connie Merritt of Dimmitt, TX; two nieces, Julie and Jill Merritt of Dallas, TX; Aunt Dorothy LaMark of Chula Vista, CA; and cousin Jerry Dunn of Riverside, CA.
