Fremont 'Bird' Burdine, Sr., 62, of Bellville, died suddenly early Saturday morning, June 10, 2006, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born November 30, 1943, in Mansfield, he was the son of Frank and Arthena Correll Burdine. Mr. Burdine retired from ARMCO where he worked as a millwright. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of Bellville American Legion Post #535 and Amvets Post #43.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Spannagel Burdine; son, James Burdine of Lexington; three daughters, Kecia Don Zuercher of Lexington, Nancy Burdine of Bellville, and Tina Bradley Beaver of Mt. Vernon; stepdaughter, Robin Bryan Spayde of Florida; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Artie Carol Burdine of Missouri, Richard Augusta Burdine and Donald Carol Burdine, all of Mansfield; sister, Sadonna Morgan of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Fremont Burdine, Jr., and a brother, Gerald Burdine.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, June 13, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. Military rites will be observed in the parking lot at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
