Judge Henry G "Pete" Andrews, Jr., age 92 of Rockwall, TX, passed away November 21, 2014. He was born March 5, 1922 in Stamford, TX, to Henry G. and Gladys (Ledbetter) Andrews. Pete graduated valedictorian of Stamford High School in 1939. He attained his BBA degree from the University of Texas in 1943. Following his service in the U.S. Army Air Corps, he graduated with an L.L.B. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1948. At that time Pete went into private practice with the firm of Andrews & Andrews until 1978. During this time he served as County Judge of Jones County and Mayor of Stamford. He was a charter member of the Texas Board of Motor Vehicles and a member of the Board of Texas Department of Public Welfare, both upon appointment by Gov. Preston Smith. In 1978 he was appointed by Gov. Dolph Briscoe to the 259th District Court of Texas and retired in 1988 as Senior Judge. Pete continued to work as Senior Judge in local district courts until he fully retired on August 31, 2010. Judge Andrews was a member of Texas Alumni, Silver Spurs, and the Texas Bar Association. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall and the Friendship Class.
