Dr. Joiner had lived in and practiced his profession at Dial, but moved to Honey Grove in 1890. Dr. Joiner moved his family to Union Grove [now Harmon] near Honey Grove in 1874 from Augusta, Arkansas. In the 1860s, he was a druggist in Chesterfield, Mississippi.
Services were held at his home and officiated by Rev. J.H. Taylor, pastor of the Methodist Church. Graveside services were directed by the Knights of Pythias.
