A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Elijah and Nicey Wilnoty George and the husband of the late Betty Crowe George.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Glenda Crowe, Donnette Lossiah and Aubry Bigmeat, all of Cherokee, son, Don Crowe of Cherokee, stepdaughter, Katherine Verran of Grapevine, Texas, stepson, Charles Albert Crowe of Morganton, sister, Encie Littlejohn of Cherokee, nephew, Keno George of the home, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bigwitch Baptist Church with the Revs. James Sneed, James "Bo" Parris and John West officiating. Burial will be in Twister Littlejohn Cemetery.
