John Stock Myers died suddenly Saturday afternoon at his home No. 20 Centennial avenue (sic). Death was due to heart trouble. Mr. Myers had been ill for the past week but his illness had not been considered serious. On Saturday morning he was feeling much better and ate a hearty meal Saturday noon shortly after which his sickness became serious and death followed at 3 o'clock. He was aged 62 years 8 months and 28 days. Three weeks ago Daniel Myers, of Hampton, a brother, died in the same manner.

He was a son of the late Zacharias and Elizabeth (Stock) Myers and was born in Gettysburg. The greater part of his life was spent in Fairfield, Adams county (sic). The family moved to Hanover 10 years ago. On February 22, 1872, he was married to Miss Martha J. Kugler, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Kugler, of Fairfield, who survives, with six children: Charles L. Myers, of Carlisle street (sic), Harry O. Myers, of Fairfield, Russel E. Myers, of Centennial avenue (sic); Mrs. Frank Little, of York street (sic); Mrs. Curtis Spangler, of Frederick street (sic), and Mrs. Harry Kouk, of Baltimore. Four sisters and one brother survive: Mrs. John McGlaughlin and Martin Myers, of Fairfield; Mrs. Emanuel Hoke, of Abbottstown; Mrs. William Fowler, of Martinsburg, W. Va., and Mrs. John Eckert, of Gettysburg, and twenty grandchildren also survive.

The deceased was a mason by trade. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church, since residing in Hanover he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church (sic).

The funeral will be hold on Tuesday, with short services at the house at 1:30 p.m., and further services in St. Paul's Lutheran church (sic). Rev. W. I. Redcay officiating.

Interment will be made in the family lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery (sic)

John S. Myers, a native of Gettysburg and a former resident of Fairfield, died at his home in Hanover, Saturday afternoon, aged 62 years, 8 months, and 28 days. Death was caused by a form of heart trouble.

He was a successful stone cutter in Fairfield until about thirteen years ago when he moved to Hanover. He leaves his wife who, before marriage, was Miss Martha Kugler, of Fairfield, and six children, four of whom reside in Hanover, one in Baltimore, and a son, Harry O. Myers, in Fairfield.

He also leaves these brothers and sisters: Mrs. John M. McGlaughlin and Martin Myers, Fairfield; Mrs. Emanuel Hoke, Abbottstown; Mrs. William Fowler, Martinsburg, W. Va., and Mrs. John Eckert, Gettysburg A brother, Daniel Myers, Hampton, died about three weeks ago.

Funeral Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from St. Paul's Lutheran church (sic), Hanover.

Following an illness of less than a week from heart trouble, John S. Myers, a well known citizen passed away at his late home No. 11 Centennial Avenue, Saturday afternoon at 2:45 o’clock. He had attained the age of 62 years, 8 months and 28 days.

The deceased was a son of the late Zacharias and Elizabeth (Stock) Myers and was born in Hamiltonban Township, Adams County, May 7, 1853. When a young man he learned the mason trade which he followed during his entire life, and was at work until a week before his death.

Mr. Myers was married to Miss Martha J. Kugler, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Kugler, of Liberty Township, Adams County, in 1873, and shortly afterward moved to Fairfield, where most of their married life was spent. The family moved to Hanover twelve years ago.

The deceased served for two terms as a member of the Fairfield Town Council, and also held the office of Road Supervisor of the township for a number of terms.

He is survived by his wife and the following children: Charles L. Myers, of Carlisle Street; Harry O. Myers, of Fairfield; Mrs. Frank C. Little, of York Street; Mrs. Curtis Spangler, of Frederick Street; Mrs. Harry Kouk, of Baltimore, and Russell Myers, of Centennial Avenue. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Martin Myers and Mrs. John McLaughlin of Fairfield, Mrs. William Fowler of Martinsburg, W. Va., Mrs. Emanuel Hoke, of Abbottstown, and Mrs. John Eckert of Gettysburg. Also the following grandchildren: Richard Myers, Mary, John, Raymond and Paul Spangler; Helen, Harold and Catharine Little; David Myers; Maurice, Russel, Gray and Wilbur Kouk; Earl, Clyde, Harry, Mary, Helen, George and Clara Myers.

Funeral Tuesday, Feb. 8, short services at the house at 1:30 p.m., further services in St. Paul’s Lutheran church (sic), his pastor, Rev. Wm. Redcay officiating. Interment on the Myers lot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
