THOMAS WALOCH, prominent farmer residing west of Gwinner, North Dakota, died Thursday, October 25, 1923, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. J. Fredrickson, in Fargo. Cancer of the stomach took his life, which he suffered for two years. He was hospitalized in Fergus Falls. He retired from farming in 1916. He then helped building roads and Hample Crete Telephone System. He spent his winter in the south and on the west coast, where the climate was less severe. He was always optimistic and had a kind word for everyone.

Born in Germany August 14, 1865, he came to America at 14 years to South Dakota in 1879. In most cases, the parents came over with the children or the husband came first. In this case, Thomas came to America two years before his parents came. He entered mercantile business for ten years. Then about 1905 went to Sargent County and farmed west of Gwinner on a fine farm until 1916. He leaves 6 children - Mrs. Ed (Laura) Akers; Mrs. Frank (Rose) Mackey, Miss Teresa Waloch, Mrs. R. J. (Ida Mae) Fredrickson, T. J. (Phil) Waloch and Bert Waloch. His first wife was Mary Springer and his second wife was Margaret (Osborne) Boynton.
