ROSCOE PETE AUTREY JR., 87, of Duncan, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, in Duncan Care Center.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Chriswell Funeral Home, Ada. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.
A memorial service for family and friends will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Duncan.
Roscoe Pete was born April 23, 1918, in Wapanucka, to Cora House Autrey and Roscoe Pete Autrey Sr. He served in the military in World War II. He and his wife, Marie, were married Nov. 30, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz.
He owned a gas station, was a race car builder, and later in life, he was a cross-country truck driver. He liked spending time with family and telling World War II stories to his grandchildren. On Sundays, he loved to watch NASCAR races.
Roscoe Pete was a member of American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife Marie and their six children, Marquetta and her husband Bill Zedeck of Reno, Nevada, Martha and her husband Chet Ballard, Mary and her husband James Dortch, Margaret and her husband Jack Roden and Bill Autrey, all of California, Roscoe Pete Autrey III and his wife Tammy of Oklahoma; and 20 grandchildren, Cheryl, Annette and Andrea Williams, James Jr., Sheila, Julie and Jeff Dortch, Leah and Lynette Ballard, Yanya and Chad Hague, Billy, Rhonda, Ashley, Axel (Menezes), Victor and Dillon Autrey, and Shelby, Megan and Roscoe Pete Autrey IV; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, J.T. and W.R. Autrey.
Bearers will be Pete Autrey IV, Bill and Billy Autrey, Kenneth and Bobby Lewis and Jim Anderson.
Honorary bearers are Cotton Lewis, Tommy Anderson and Bobby Anderson.
