STANFORD - Donald Babbs, 72, of 422 W. Main St., Stanford, died at 7:29 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 21, 1997) at his residence.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McReynolds-Beck Funeral Home, Stanford, the Rev. Bob Eby officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Grove Cemetery, Stanford. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Midwest Kidney Center.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann; three daughters, Carol (Howard) Smith, Bloomington, and Janet May and Debbie (Duane) May, both of Fisher; a son, James Babbs, Stanford; a sister, Mary Orrick, Marquette Heights; and a brother, Robert Babbs, Stanford.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jeff (Tracy) Smith, Monticello, Ind.; Jason Smith, Bloomington; Scott (Shelby) May, Rantoul; and Shannon May, Justin May and Jessica May, all of Fisher; and four great-grandchildren, Shawn, Michael, Carleen and Jeffy Smith, all of Monticello, Ind.
A son, Mike, and two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was born July 23, 1925, in Covell, a son of Hillard and Emma Smothers Babbs. He married Betty Ann Walker on March 25, 1949, in Stanford.
Mr. Babbs retired in 1990 as road commissioner in Allin Township.
He was a member of Minier Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed listening to his radio and spending time with his family.
