P. J. was the son of Orren Lemuel and Mary Jane Shelton Chapman. He married Magdalen Catherine "Betty" Bright 6 Jun 1923 in Wellsville, Columbiana Co OH. Children: Billy Bright and James Martin. P. J. was an insurance agent in Topeka KS, and he worked for railroad. For many years he operated Rosedale Inn in Jefferson Co OH between Bloomingdale and Wintersville. P. J. was a devout Catholic, taking the name Perry James at baptism. He was in WW I in the 322nd Field Artillery in France. He died of a coronary occlusion.
