Pauline Louise Seymour Graefnitz, age 96, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Westminster Village after a lengthy illness.

She was born Pauline Louise Lange, the daughter of the late Otto and Caroline (Link) Lange on March 23, 1918 in Tippecanoe County, near Otterbein. She graduated from Montmorenci High School in 1935.

In 1940 she married Wesley "Earl" Seymour and they raised their children, primarily residing at the family home on South Street near Columbian Park until Earl's sudden death in 1985.

In 1992, she married Russell Graefnitz. They were able to travel extensively and enjoy ballroom dancing and all types of music and theater performances as well as many church activities at their church, First Christian Church of Lafayette. They moved to Westminster Village in 2012. Pauline worked a number of part time jobs while raising her family as well as volunteered countless hours at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lafayette Home Hospital Auxiliary as a "Pink Lady." She retired from the Tippecanoe County Auditor's office in the early 1990's where her cheerful disposition and problem solving skills made her a favorite of many customers. She was an amazing cook, recipe collector and marathon "shopper." She loved entertaining and the art of conversation. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her enthusiasm and joy for even the smallest things in life.

She is survived by her husband, Russell, a son Richard Seymour (Diane) of Loudon, Tenn., two daughters, Pam Reinert (Tom) of Port Clinton, Ohio, and Julie Mizer (Chris) of Roswell, Ga; granddaughters, Amy Bishop (John) of Grove City, Ohio, Sara Mizer of Woodstock, Ga. and great-granddaughter Hope Bishop of Grove City, as well as close friend and sister-in-law Lois Lange of West Lafayette, and nephews and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Wilhelmina "Billie" Clawson, and a brother Carl Lange.


Visitation will be from 2:00 PM Sunday until the time of the service at 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev Greg Eberhard Officiating. Burial will be on Monday at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.In lieu of flowers please contribute to Guardian Angel Hospice Foundation, 513 W. Lincoln Road Kokomo, IN 46902, in Pauline's name.
