A native of Yancey County, he was born on April 6, 1914 to the late William Grayson Silver and Florence Mae Murphy Silver.
He was a retired electrician. Mr. Silver was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Oahu.
His former wife Mary K. Silver Parker and two sons, Terry Lane Silver and Jerry Wayne Silver preceded him in death.
Surviving are two children, Loretta Hall of Marion and Charles Hal Silver of Swansboro; a brother, Dr. Howard Silver of Burlington; a sister, Gladys Buchanan of Marion; three grandchildren, Michael Hall, Rebecca Elliott and Judy Yeater; two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Jeremiah Elliot; and three great great grandchildren, Devin Carr and twins, Sydney and Lauryn Elliott.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Dr. Howard Silver officiating.
Burial will be in Rebels Creek Cemetery in Mitchell County.
