George O. Kagler, 78, 330 North Sumner Ave., retired Erie Railroad employe and a former City policeman, died yesterday morning at West Side Hospital after a three months illness.
Mr. Kagler, a railroad hostler until, his retirement in 196, [1946?]had worked the last six years as a doorman at the Capitol Theater. He worked for the Erie 23 years and was a City policeman from 1910 to 1923.
A native of Carbondale:, he had resided in this City more than 50 years. He was a son of the late Stephen , and Altheat [sic]Griswald Kagler. He was a member of Jackson Street Baptist Church, Union Lodge 291, F & AM, and the Brotherhood of Enginemen and Firemen, of which he was honorary president and a past president.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Morris; a son, George Kagler Jr., this City, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday at 3:30 p. m. from the B. Willard Tague Funeral Home, 109 South Main Ave., with the Rev. Dr. B. L. C. Baer, Jackson Street Baptist Church, officiating. Interment. Shady Lane Cemetery, ' Chinchilla. Friends . may call after 7 o'clock tonight.
