Obituary from Medina Gazette, April 1, 1897, pg. 4:

Martha W. Edwards

Martha W., wife of Robert Edwards, was born in Hinkley, Medina Co., O., Octobr 6, 1839. Died at her home in Medina March 25, 1897. She was married August 20, 1859 to Robert Edwards, of Medina, who survives her. For several years they resided in Weymouth, Medina Co., then removed to Medina which has since been their home. She was the mother of seven children, one having died in infancy. Those remaining are Eugene, Mr. Cora Stadler, of Cleveland, Mrs. J. Oakley, of Medina, Willie, Fannie and Hobart. The last two are living at home. Mrs. Edwards was an earnest Christian woman, active in all that concerned the welfare of her church or town. She was a loving and a faithful member of the Medina W.C.T.U., and in that circle which as been so suddenly broken her prayers and words of cheer will be greatly missed. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand to those who were suffering and in many homes her deeds of kindness will long be remembered.

She has passed from earth, toil and sorrow,
Gone from its tumult and care,
She has entered the gates eternal,
And greets the loved ones up there.
She has passed with silent breath,
From the heart and home away,
But to us comes the echo sweet,
She has passed to a brighter day.
She has joined that glorious army,
That white ribbon band,
And she hears the sweet songs singing,
On that bright and better land.

Card of Thanks
We desire to return our heartfelt thanks to the many neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted us in the sickness and death of our be loved wife and mother, also to the High School for their beautiful floral gifts, to the W.C.T.U. for their loving sympathy and beautiful floral offerings, also to the singers for their kind assistance.
