Funeral services for Edward Fenske were held on Thursday, May 10th, 1962 at 2 p.m. from Bethany Lutheran church at Carlos with Rev. Donald Hefty officiating. Interment was in the Carlos cemetery. The pallbearers were Claude Jackson, Percy Black, Darrel Kittleson, Marvin Landeen, Harold Ehlert, Chris Bachhaus. Honorary bearers were Clarence Stedje, John Botzet, John Feda, Peter Geris, Henry Stedje, and Sigur Trones. Military honors were conducted by American Legion Post 87 of Alexandria.
Edward Otto Fenske was born in Germania, Wis., June 30, 1890, the son of Rudolph and Henrietta Fenske. He was baptized in Germania and later the Fenske family moved to Mapleton, Minn. where he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
Edward came to Carlos in 1910 and in 1919 was united in marriage to Frances Anderson. After their marriage, they farmed for several years and in 1937 purchased a garage in carlos which he operated until his retirement in 1949.
Mr. Fenske passed away on Monday, May 7, 1962 at the Douglas County hospital at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 7 days. He is survived by his wife, Frances, one sister, Tillie Ponto of New London, Wis., several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
