Hines Graves, 87, Ripley, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Golden Living Center. He was born November 10, 1927, to the late Marvin Holcomb and Lillie Alice Johnson Graves. He was a member of Beech Hill Church of Christ and a farmer. He served on the Tippah County Co-op Board, Farmers Home Administration and Mississippi State Advisory Board in Verona. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a purple Heart recipient.
His services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Minister King McCarver officiating. Burial will be in Beech Hill Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Dimple Goforth Graves of Ripley; one daughter, Melinda Dees (Michael) of Ripley; one son, Mike Graves (Kathy) of Ripley; one sister, Jamie Rooker (M.S. Jr.) of Ripley; five grandchildren, Michael Graves, Allen Graves (Lisa), Tyler Graves (Leah), Rachel Dees and James Dees, all of Ripley; three great-grandchildren, Conner, Jewel Claire and Madden Graves, all of Ripley.
Pallbearers will be Robert Farrow, Michael, Allen and Tyler Graves, James Dees, Mike Hurst, Tommy Bruce, Joey Holliday and Jackie Rooker. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd McClusky, Jimmy Wayne Davis, Greg Ward, Bowden Grisham, Hill Country Sams Club and Dr. Charlie Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Brooksye Bruce.
Visitation will be 5 until 9 p.m. today, November 19, 2014, at Ripley Funeral Home.
