She moved to Blackburn, England with her British parents as a 2-year-old, and lived there until 1947, when they returned to Tacoma via the HMS Queen Mary.
She married Conrad Boekholt in 1950 and they enjoyed a 59-year marriage until his death in 2010.
As a young family they enjoyed many tent and trailer camping vacations over the years. In their retirement years they loved to travel, and especially enjoyed the many cruises they took.
Barbara was employed for many years as the office manager for Plastic Surgeons Northwest and she was proud of her six years as a Hospice volunteer from 1999 to 2005.
Preceded in death by her husband Conrad, her son Derek, her sister Joan, her brother Roy, and her parents.
