Services for Vera L. Larson, 88, of Canby will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday Jan 30, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby with Pastor Katherine Rood officiating.
Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery. Bruce Melby will sing "On Eagles' Wings." The congregation will sing "Children of the Heavenly Father," "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less," and "Beautiful Savior." Karen Olsen is the organist.
The casketbearers are James Graner, Larry Stier, Bill Floyd, Ron Reuter, Rhys Jones, and James A. Graner. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
Mrs. Larson died on Sunday at the Sioux Valley Canby Hospital in Canby.
Vera Lorraine Horgan was born on April 19, 1913, at Star Prairie, Wis., to Peter and Hilda (Olson) Horgan. She was raised at Star Prairie and was baptized and confirmed at the Bethany Lutheran Church. She was married to Vern L. Larson. Vern passed away on June 7, 1986; Vera was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby, and the W. E. L. C. A. and the Canby Chapter of the Sons of Norway.
She enjoyed card games, entertaining, reading, decorating, baking, and spending time with family and friends. Vera had an amazing sense of humor and zest for life and always had a positive attitude.
She is survived by her son, James B. (Nancy) Larson of St. Cloud; her daughter, Judy (James) Graner of Minnetonka, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Susan Larson (Bill Floyd) and their children Alex and Mackenzie; Julie (Larry) Stier and their children
Chelsea, Justin and Brennen; Shelly (Ron) Reuter and their children Katelyn and Benjamin; Melissa Graner (Rhys Jones) and their children Logan and Conner; and James (Corinna) Graner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, her parents, Peter and Hilda Horgan, her daughter, Dolly Larson, 11 sisters and four brothers.
