Funeral services for Marvin J. F. "Sonny" Prentis, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Community Fellowship Outreach Center -- Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jack Baron officiating. Interment will be at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery.

Born March 18, 1929, in north Ringling to Clarence Abner and Blanch Naomi Baker Prentis, he died Nov. 26, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Prentis grew up in the Ringling area and attended school at Mountain Home. He and the former Ella Mae Hammon were married in 1947, and to this union was born two daughters. He worked as a rancher-cowboy for many years, then became employed by L.E. Jones Oil Co. where he worked as a pumper for 20-plus years. On Nov. 25, 1975, he and the former Billie Joyce Pounds Cunningham were married and he acquired 12 stepchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda and granddaughter Christy.

He is survived by his wife, Billie, of the home; five sisters, Lois Branch and Reno Snell, both of Ringling, Billie Baker, Oklahoma City, Jackie Nelson, Pauls Valley, and Mary Greenroyd, Moore; a daughter, Freida Sarratt, Idabel; 12 stepchildren, Joy Griffin, Michelle Taylor and Kim Butler, all of Walters, Clyde Cunningham, Temple, Tommy Cunningham, Comanche, Jeff Cunningham, Chattanooga, Jerry Cunningham, Apache, Billy Bob, Joe, Ricky and Timmy Cunningham and Tami Riley, all of Ringling; 31 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bearers will be the nephews, Kenny Snell, Larry Snell, Terry Snell, Tony Greenroyd, Mike Nelson and Carry Nelson.
