After her death, her son Thomas came to live with Martha's sister and her husband, Elizabeth (Higbee) and Christian Creamer, who farmed in Jefferson Township. He is enumerated with them in the 1870 and 1880 census reports.
I visited the Higbee Cemetery in 1978 and saw Martha's gravestone, which was becoming illegible. It gave her death date as 1 M___ 1861, and her age as 26.
