AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Irene Tilton, age 85, beloved wife of the late Asbury Tilton, entered into rest at University Hospital, Wednesday, August 22, 2007. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel with Pastor Maynard Weaver officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Wayne Howell, Chris Howell, James Goff, Randy Parker, Alonzo Bell, Larry Partridge, and Barry Atencio. Mrs. Tilton resided in Augusta for the past 36 years and was a seamstress for Homestead Draperies. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Tilton is survived by three daughters, Mary Newsome and her husband Randall of Augusta, Rosie Parker and her husband Danny of Nashville, Tenn., and Betty Atencio and her husband Joe, also of Augusta; two sons, Edward Tilton and his wife Pat of Jacksonville, Fla. and Michael Tilton of Augusta; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Mr. Asbury Tilton; a daughter, Kay Ellen Tilton; and two sons, Don Tilton and Asbury Tilton, Jr. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2007 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel.
