She was born April 7, 1906, to Antone and Mary Field in Madison. She was united in marriage to Carl Honel on May 19, 1935. Charlotte worked as a beautician for 60 years in Tomah until her retirement in 1993. She was an avid bowler for many years. She was a faithful and devoted member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah.

She is survived by her son, Bob, of Tomah; her daughter, Gerrie ( Ron) Clay of Perry, Iowa; four grandchildren, Richard Honel of Montgomery, Ala., Debi Smith of Des Moines, Iowa, Pam Ballard of Perry, Iowa, and Shelly Johnson of Johnston, Iowa; 13 great-grandchildren, Heather Blake, Jacob Honel and Genevieve Honel, all of Montgomery, Ala., Juli Smith, Kyle Smith and Matthew Smith, all of Des Moines, Iowa, Jacob Ballard, Jennifer Ballard, Kristin Ballard, and Karmin Ballard, all of Perry, Iowa, Kellen Johnson, Bryce Johnson and Mryn Johnson, all of Johnston, Iowa; two great-great-grandchildren Blake Baker of Montgomery, Ala., and Chloe Ballard of Perry, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; and a great-grandson, Jared Smith.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 10, at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 310 W. Elizabeth St., Tomah. Pastor William L. Rice and Pastor Martha J. Hampton officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah.

Relatives and friends called on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 East Monowau St. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
