Nathan DeViney, Sr., 81, the only son of three children born to Samuel A. and Ella W. DeViney, died peacefully September 13, 2007. Sam proudly served his country aboard the USS Chicopee during World War II and proudly served San Antonio for over 30 years as a journeyman electrician and power plant overhaul foreman for City Public Service. He loved babies and animals and the rugged beauty of far west Texas; he was an avid hobbyist and always had a deep curiosity for the mysteries of earth science, creation and God. His loving survivors include Alice Atnipp DeViney, his wife of 57 years; four children;daughter Annette DeViney Owens; son, Samuel N. DeViney, Jr., daughter, Laurie Michele Gifford and her husband, Craig and son Tracey Christopher Edward Gifford and his wife, Heidi, James Emerson Gifford, Michele Elizabeth Gifford and Grace DeViney; and three great-grandchildren; Charles Christian Reynolds, Olivia Kathryn Reynolds and Madeline Louise Gifford. SERVICES Visitation will be begin on Sunday, September 16, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
