Son of Perry L. and Clara (Lucy) Batchelder. (Clara later married Samuel F. Gorson. Sam died in Philadelphia in 1952. Clara's mother was Adline Lucy. Her father was David H. Lucy, and she lived with him when she was widowed, as per the 1900 census. Perry Batchelder's parents were George G. Batchelder (Butcher), and Amanda Batchelder.

1919: Russell was transported from Brest, France to New York by ship in April 1919, and then "transferred to Hospital", perhaps wounded in WWI, Company B, 305th Infantry, Notify in case of emergency: Mrs. Clara S. Gorson, Mother. West Nottingham, NH.

1940: Russell (age 46) was married to Grace (age 50), both born in NH and with an elementary school education. He was a "trock man" (?) for the Boston and Maine Railroad.
