Mary Elizabeth Bowlus Nowls, born near Middletown, Maryland, on November 25th, 1842, recently died in Topeka, Kansas. In 1851 her parents moved to Warren County, Indiana, where she spent most of her girlhood days. In 1865 she was married in Warren county, Indiana, to Moses Nowls and in December, 1874, she and her husband and children moved to Topeka, Kansas. Two years later, in 1876, they moved to Rice County, Kansas, and lived there for 13 years, namely until 1889, when they return again to Topeka. For the last three years she has been an invalid and finally passed away. She was buried in the Topeka cemetery on March 26th, 1921.
Mrs. Nowls was one of 12 children and is survived by a brother and sister, Abe L. Bowlus and Laura Virginia Bowlus Stewart of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She leaves a husband, two daughters and a son to mourn her loss.
