Curtis D. "Curt' Bailey, 85, of Rockford died at 10:26 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at home after a long illness. Born Jan. 2, 1915, in Rockford, the son of Walter Harold and Gertrude Adele Overstreet Bailey. Married Elizabeth Eleanor Picken in Rockford on April 21, 1941 she died Sept. 5, 1986. Married Mary Heidrich Whitehurst on Nov. 28, 1987, in Cincinnati, Ohio she died Dec. 24, 1998. Employed as vice president and general manager of Arntzen Steel Fabricating Co., retiring in 1980. He loved golfing, fishing and the northern woods of Wisconsin. Past member of Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club and American Welding Society. Graduated from Central High School in 1931 and attended Beloit College and the University of Illinois. Member of First Presbyterian Church, Rockford. Survivors include sons, Steven (Karen) Bailey of Roscoe, Robert (Nancy) Bailey of Rockford and Thomas (Sharon) Bailey of Jupiter, Fla. grandchildren, Jennie (Paul) Saltzgiver and Kimberly (Ricardo) Fernandez of Rockford, Sarah (Allen Gahl) Bailey of Minneapolis, Minn., and Jordan and Emily Bailey of Jupiter, Fla. great-granddaughter, Anna Saltzgiver five stepchildren nine step-grandchildren in Cincinnati, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents and brothers, Allen and Eugene.

Services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, in Fred C. Olson Funeral Chapels Ltd., East Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with the Rev. David Barnes officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday in the East Chapel. Memorials to American Cancer Society or First Presbyterian Church. 1-20-3
