KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The suspected gunman in the killing of a former Lake Los Angeles teenager was arrested Tuesday night in Oregon, near the California border.
Patrick Eli Morris, 19, of Klamath Falls was arrested for the shooting death of 15-year-old Diego Aguilar, a former Antelope Valley High School student and Lake Los Angeles resident who moved to Klamath Falls less than two weeks ago with his mother Geraldine and sister Jessica.

Aguilar was shot Friday outside the hotel where he and his family were living temporarily.

Klamath County District Attorney Ed Caleb said Monday that Aguilar got into a verbal conflict with Morris several days before the shooting took place.

"It appeared to be something that was just going to be a fight but very quickly escalated," Caleb said.

"And it appears that Morris brought a sawed-off shotgun."
Caleb told the Klamath Falls Herald and News that Morris' father drove him from California to Oregon.

The arrest came one day after Caleb filed murder charges against Morris and obtained an arrest warrant.

Caleb described Morris as a "19-year-old that we believe has left the area and could be in the Oakland area now," Morris is from that area and various members of his family still live there.

Authorities started following the Morris' vehicle in Redding, the Herald and News reported.

The Klamath Falls-based newspaper also reported that an autopsy on Aguilar was complete, showing he received gunshot wounds in his legs, chest, spleen and kidneys.

Aguilar's grandmother, Mary McConnell, said the family was relieved there was an arrest but now are dealing with Aguilar's burial.

She praised law enforcement agencies in Klamath Falls Wednesday as she had on Monday. "Bless all their hearts up there; they've been trying very hard to get this taken care of," she said.
