May 14, 1914
Francis M. Bowman, aged 68 years, died at his home, 813 Floyd avenue, at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening. He had been ill for the past month with heart trouble and on Tuesday he suffered a stroke of paralysis, which was the cause of death. He was born in the town of Western, was the son of the late Alexander Bowman and Esther Boyd, and was the last of a family of nine children. He has always followed the occupation of a farmer and was very successful.
Practically all his life was spent in the town of Western and for a number of years he conducted a farm on Canterbury Hill. He retired from active work three years ago and came to this city to reside. In 1869 he was married to Miss Nancy A. Potter of Lee, who survives, with two sons, Charles A. Bowman of this city and George A. Bowman of Utica. Mr. Bowman attended the Universalist Church. He was a very genial man with a large
acquaintance both in this city and Western and his many friends will regret to learn of his death.
