George B. Briner, 83, of Calumet, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Harry S. and Myrtle (Barr) Briner.

Prior to his disability, he worked at Latrobe Steel. George was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Trauger, was a life member of Calumet Volunteer Fire Department, a social member at Norvelt Firemens Club and member of F and AM Marion Lodge No. 562, Scottdale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence E. (Coking) Briner; and two sisters, Bonnie Yohman and Dorothy Brawdy.

He is survived by his wife, Donna J. (Jones) Howard Briner; four stepsons, Keith Howard and wife, Karen, Glenn Howard and wife, Debbie, Doug Howard and wife, Susan, and Brian Howard and wife, Monica; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Paul United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dick Seigfried officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Reformed Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township.
