Betty Phillips

Betty Lou Gearldean Phillips, of Eugene went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2014, after a long battle of cancer.

Betty lived in Eugene, Oregon, for over 50 years. Born on September 4, 1926, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, to Leonard and Audrey Smith; she is predeceased by her late husband of 62 years, Darrel Phillips; and her daughter Barbara Wooten of Colorado.

In 1966 Betty completed her nursing program and went on to nurse for years in Coos Bay, Portland and in Eugene. Betty helped her husband run the family-owned car lot.

Some of Betty’s past activities that you would find her doing is spending countless hours working in her beautiful garden, was a talented artist in many ways by playing the piano, signing hymns, sewing clothes and painting old living barns.

Surviving family include; siblings, Gusta Chamberlain, Peggy McCarthy, Gale Smith, Dale Smith and Carolyn Sparksman; daughter include, Diane Hughes, Donna Yost and Sandra Martin; grandchildren include: Shelley Stratton, Melissa Pazera, Trina Anderson, Jody Gledhill and Steven Beimer, and elven great-grandchildren.

Memorial and viewing will be held November 17, 2014, at 2:00 pm at West Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 225 South Danebo Eugene, Oregon.
