Curtis Howard Alford, age 65, Lonz Street, died Thursday morning at a local hospital. Surviving wife, Mrs. Gail Hall Alford; daughter, Mrs. Rita Newton, Gadsden; Mrs. Valerie Allen, Pensacola, Fla.; sons, Terry Alford, Huntsville; Randy Alford, Gadsden; step-son, Kenneth Holderfield, Fairbanks, Alaska. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing. Funeral service today 2 p.m. Collier-Butler Chapel. Burial Crestwood Cemetery with military honors. Other survivors, sisters, Mrs. Paul Bryant, Gadsden; Mrs. Hoyt Miller, Hokes Bluff; brother, Jesse Alford, Hokes Bluff; Zelman and Herston Alford, Gadsden; 9 grandchildren and 1 step-grandchild. Mr. Alford was a native and lifelong resident of Gadsden. He was a member of South Gadsden Baptist Church; retired from Republic Steel and veteran of World War II.
