Kenneth L. Gomel, age 76, of Maple Hill, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in Topeka. He was born August 15, 1930 in Hillsboro, KS the son of Donald Gomel and Elsie Allen Gomel. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1946. He entered the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict from 1951 - 1955.

He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Owen on April 5, 1952 in Topeka. He worked for the Topeka Capital Journal for 48 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Dover Federated Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Gomel of Maple Hill; five sons, Steven J. Gomel of Topeka, Bradley A. Gomel of Topeka, John L. Gomel of Lecompton, Christopher Scott Gomel of Topeka and Matthew Thomas Gomel of Auburn; a daughter, Linda Jean Bundy of Auburn; a brother, Robert Gomel of Texas; 15 grandchildren and one great grandson.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing along with being a western movies enthusiast.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Dover Federated Church in Dover. He will lie in state Friday from noon - 9:00 p.m. with family visitation from 7:00 - 8:30 at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be a the Rochester Cemetery.

Memorial may be made to the Dover Federated Church or the American Lung Association and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
