John B. Davis
John B. Davis died yesterday morning
at the residence of his son-in-law,
Corbin Winney, No. 165 West Circular
street, aged eighty-three years,
four months and twenty-eight days.
He is survived by seven daughters,
Mrs. George Ferguson, Mrs. Ferdinand
Carr, Mrs. Corbin Winney, Mrs.
Frank Graves, Mrs. Carson Rosa,
Mrs. J. M, Weed and Mrs, Joseph
Heath; also two sons, Samuel T, and
Jay B. Davis.
Mr. Davis enlisted under Captain
George W, Ingalls and was mustered
into service at Elmira on January 31,
1864, in the Thirteenth regiment, Battery
F, New York Artillery, and
served until the close of the war.
The funeral will be held tomorrow
afternoon at 3 o'clock at the late residence,
No, 165 West Circular street
The Rev. Tileston F. Chambers will
officiate and interment will be made
in South Side cemetery.
