Michel Deslatte Jr. was the first child and only son of Michel and Lily Deslatte. (Spoken in French the male name sounds like Michelle), which the family's first language was Cajun French, which they wrote and spoke fluently.
The horrible accident that resulted in the death of little Michelle took place on Sunday Evening March 26. Michel was playing among the cars parked on either side of the street, ran directly; in front of the approaching car, the front wheel of which passed over the lower part of the little body, inflicting injuries that resulted in his death within a few minutes.
Ruby his sister always said that that someone ran to get her mother Lily immediately after the accident and he died in her arms. HIs mother would never get over his death and grieved for her lost child till the time of her death.

Gravesite Details

Due to the instability of south Louisiana land the grave collapsed and destroyed the original graves. The graves of Lillian Hebert, Michel Hebert Sr., and Michel Hebert were combined then combined and a new headstone was placed in its place to indic
